Day 3

It is Salina’s third day of recovery.  She appears comfortable, not having that sensation anymore since her leg was removed.  I will be bringing her to a family gathering next week, not quite sure how my young niece and nephew will react.  Of course, the appearance is a bit shocking, especially to children.  Any suggestions?

When our dog snoopy had his leg amuputed three weeks ago one of the hardest parts was seeing my little boy’s face when we when to pick up snoopy from the vet. He looked away right away and for the first week he was very stand offish. After about a week my son started to play with Snoopy and hug and kiss him just like normal. I think it just takes a little time. The night of Holloween one of the trick or treaters said to me “um….my dog has 4 legs……isn’t he supposed to too?” After I explained what happend the little boy gave Snoopy a hug and wasn’t afraid at all!
Wish you guys the best of luck!!

Due to the cold weather, we put a sweater on Salina when taking her for a walk (it snowed here last night). I then realized that the sweater covered her shaved/stapled area which would make it much easier for my niece and nephew to deal with. She will probably be wearing her sweater this weekend.
I hope all goes well with your Snoopy….actually “Snoopy” was my favorite as a child, I actually have Snoopy on my bed! Next time I look at my Snoopy, I will be thinking of you:-)
